This position is perfect for both experienced ophthalmic technicians and those eager to train in this fascinating subspecialty. Whether you’re experienced in eye care or new to the field, we will help you build the specialized skills needed to work with strabismus, amblyopia, and complex visual acuity assessments.

What You’ll Do

As a Pediatric Ophthalmic Technician, you will:

  • Work directly with pediatric ophthalmologists and orthoptists to provide specialized eye care for children
  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams, including visual acuity, ocular motility, and stereo testing
  • Assist physicians with procedures, scribing, and triaging urgent cases
  • Maintaining clinic efficiency, cleanliness, and patient-centered clinic environment
  • Support clinical research in pediatric ophthalmology on occasion

Work Schedule

This role does NOT offer remote work flexibility and requires in-person attendance.

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:20 AM – approx 4:30 PM
  • We don’t work weekends, evenings nor major holidays.
  • Part-Time Option: Available for three or four full days per week, but start and end times are fixed.

Qualifications & Training Opportunities

We are looking for dedicated, detail-oriented individuals with a strong aptitude for science and math, as well as the right temperament to work with children in a medical setting. While we prefer candidates who meet one of the following qualifications, we are open to training the right person who demonstrates a strong ability to learn and grow in this field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree – OR –
  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmic training program – OR –
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Certified Medical Technologist (COMT) – OR –
  • One year of experience in an ophthalmology, optometry, or optical clinical setting

  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
