Many of our patient’s parents have been asking us about concerns related to virtual learning, increased screen time and digital eye strain.

Dr. Rao recently had a chance to talk to WDIV about these concerns. The links belows will provide you with our perspective and the national Academy of Ophthalmology’s statements on these topics.

Blue Light Glasses

There is no evidence glasses to filter blue light help reduce digital eye strain. Digital strain is caused by the amount of time spent on the screen not the blue light.

There’s no evidence the blue light glasses are harmful in any way either. It does probably make the screen a little bit darker, and if somebody finds comfort in that, there’s no harm in using it. However, it’s not something we recommend to families.

What our patients are saying

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Ismail for about 2.5 years now. I was a scared mom with my 1.5 year old when she started having eye muscle issues. Dr. Ismail made me and my husband feel completely comfortable with my daughter’s eye surgery. I can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for our family and my daughter’s eyes. Highly recommended.
